Photoshop Phriday: Mario Manningham
At this point I’ve tackled (hah, football puns!) many of the big names from the 2007 Michigan football team, my freshman year. There was Mike Hart, Jake Long, Chad Henne, and Adrian Arrington. But hey, what about Mario Manningham?! Manningham was one of Michigan’s top receivers from 2005 to 2007. The vendors that sell cheap shirts on campus on gamedays loved to sell ‘Super Mario’ shirts to passersby. At the end of just a three year career he cracked the all time top 10 for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns by a receiver in Michigan history. Manningham was drafted in the 3rd round in 2008 by the NY Giants and played three seasons for them before being sidelined by injuries.
Manningham quickly endeared himself to the Michigan faithful with his end of game catch against Penn State in 2005. . The 27-25 win would prove to be the only loss Penn State suffered that season and it’s no surprise that the entire stadium went bonkers when Michigan won that game. Who wouldn’t be excited about beating Penn State and miraculously finding half of a parmesan pepper loaf?
